Top ISP tips for cheap broadband
Tuesday 4th May 2010, by Daniel King
These days people are doing anything to make sure they can keep a bit of cash in their pockets.
According to research by the Charities Aid Foundation, 52 per cent of Brits have found renewed value in saving money, as a direct result of the recession.
And this has obviously affected our shopping habits, with 30 per cent trying to spend less in the shops on a regular basis.
It would also be nice to know we’re saving some pennies when it comes to our monthly broadband bills.
But how do you find a cheap internet service provider (ISP) that doesn't compromise on the quality of its service?
Well, ISPreview has offered a number of tips on how to save money on your internet connection and get a good product at the same time.
According to the website, Virgin Media might be a good option, as it offers decent television and phone bundles at a competitive price.
However, it is "probably the least well rated of our three choices", due to poor customer support and a Traffic Management policy that comes into force if you download too much in a short space of time.
Therefore, you may fancy BE Broadband or O2, which are praised for their top speeds and good prices.
"Both Be Broadband and O2 also offer faster 'up to' 20 to 24Mbps broadband packages for equally low pricing, though according to readers Be Broadband is better for customer support than its O2 counterpart," it added.
Or why not try Sky Broadband?
According to the website, rates can be extremely cheap, especially if you're already on Sky Talk Freetime.
The site stated: "Sky may not offer a standalone service but [it's] still one of the best value broadband providers around - and a lot of people have Sky."
