Two broadband deals to end today

Computer owners looking for savings on broadband should consider two deals that will end today (August 31st).

Plusnet and Virgin Broadband are both providing two very cheap offers for consumers wanting to switch provider.

New Virgin subscribers could upgrade their current broadband speed up to 20Mb.

The deal means that they will only pay line rental for the first two months of the contract.

In addition to this, installation is free, saving more funds.

Ofcom recently found that the company's 'up to' 10Mbit/s and 'up to' 20 Mbit/s cable services offered in some cases more than double the average peak download speed of its rivals advertising similar services.

Plusnet is also offering a deal which ends today, giving new subscribers three months of free service.

Consumers who subscribe today to either the Value or Extra packages could get broadband with download speeds of up to 20Mb/s.

Like the Virgin deal, only the line rental needs to be paid, until the three months are up and normal charges apply.

The value packaging only costs £6.49 a month. Subscribers to the higher speed service will pay £11.49.

Homeowners keen to increase the speed could also help themselves with a few simple pieces of equipment.

The telecoms regulator advises consumers to install microfilters into all home phone sockets so the broadband can work over the same line as the telephone service.
