Virgin broadband problems reported

Virgin broadband problems reported Virgin media customers had their broadband disconnected on Monday after problems during routine maintenance.

It is not known how many of Virgin's 3.6 million broadband customers were affected, although it is believed that it was primarily those in Yorkshire, the midlands and the north-west.

A spokesperson said: "Our engineers are currently working to restore the few remaining connections as quickly as possible ... we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Broadcast television and telephone services were unaffected."

The range of time that affected users ranged from ten minutes to several hours, although there are reports that some are continuing to have issues with their broadband.

Virgin have advised customers still suffering from problems to re-start their modems or set-top boxes.

The company has assured customers that the problem is now fixed but it may prompt some to switch broadband provider.

At the beginning of the month a survey showed Virgin Media coming second to Tiscali in terms of customer satisfaction, it was announced on Channel 4 News.
