Virgin Media broadband customers 'to be offered music download service'

Virgin Media broadband internet customers will soon be able to use the communications firm's music download service which, it has been announced, will be known as MusicFish.
The broadband, phone and digital television provider is likely to charge an especially competitive rate of £6.50 for the capability, which is expected to allow subscribers to download an unlimited supply of the latest tunes.
It is thought that Virgin Media will aim to generate significant revenue through advertising on the service - which will be a competitor to the highly-successful Spotify.
A surge in Virgin Media advertising could also help it to attract more customers to its broadband deals.
Record labels which are likely to make their songs available for download by users of MusicFish include EMI, Sony, Universal and Warner - meaning some of the world's biggest artists will be just a click away for Virgin Media's subscriber base.
A spokesman for the company said that everything is on track and that developers had been "making good progress" on the MusicFish project.
One limitation of rivals such as Spotify and Sky Songs is that they do not allow people to make use of songs in other ways, such as adding them to music playing devices.
It is intended that MusicFish, however, will offer such a service.
MusicFish is just the latest in a string of eye-catching offers from Virgin Media in recent weeks.
The firm announced last week that it is to offer its mobile phone customers the chance to sign up to mobile broadband on a month-by-month basis.
