Warning to heavy broadband users

Warning to heavy broadband users Broadband provider Virgin Media has sent letters to some of its customers considered to have the heaviest usage, according to a report by vnunet.com.

The letters are being served as a reminder of the company's traffic management policies, which could interest those looking for the best broadband deal.

In a statement, Virgin Media said: "As part of this educational exercise we are letting customers know what the changes mean to them, and why they may see their speeds reduced for short periods at certain times of the day."

Certain customers are, according to the company, using "more than their fair share" - an issue which users may wish to research before selecting a broadband company.

Earlier in the year, Virgin Media announced it was upgrading 4Mb connection to a 10Mb speed for free, which it said could mean a song could be downloaded in around four seconds.
