Highly-mobile technology 'is the future'

Highly-mobile technology 'is the future' The future of the internet lies in highly-mobile technology, according to head of Intel Paul Otellini, who was speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Mr Otellini spoke about Intel's backing of wireless technology network WiMax, explaining that "instead of going to the internet, the internet comes to us".

The introduction of real-time technology was also highlighted, with the technology expert using the example of a traveller to show how data could be pulled from the internet in real time.

In an interview with the BBC, Mr Otellini said: "Our business model is one of very high risk: We dig a very big hole in the ground, spend three billion dollars to build a factory in it, which takes three years, to produce technology we haven't invented yet, to run products we haven't designed yet, for markets which don't exist."

During the show, Intel has also showcased 16 new processors based on 45 nanometer process technology, with an accompanying video dubbed Intel's 45nm Secret Revealed.
