MK 'secures wider wireless coverage'

MK 'secures wider wireless coverage' Wireless broadband provider Freedom4 has joined up with Milton Keynes Council to roll out wireless coverage across the whole city.

The firm, formally known as Pipex Wireless, will provide the city's council with its WiMAX technology in order to increase the wireless broadband uptake in the Buckinghamshire city, ISPreview.co.uk reports.

Under the partnership, students and families at Leon School and Sports College in the city will be able to borrow laptops from the school in order to use Freedom4's broadband connection in their homes.

Graham Currier, business development director at Freedom4, told the news provider: "I'm delighted to be expanding the use of WiMAX in Milton Keynes and helping to benefit the community. Using WiMAX the students can now access the internet, an increasingly important resource in today's education."

Last month, Pipex Wireless rebranded as Freedom4 after the main Pipex brand was sold to Tiscali earlier this year.
