New broadband-ready technology to be rolled out

New broadband-ready technology to be rolled out Cordless advanced technology products – which can run though a broadband connection – are set to be rolled out later this year, it has been claimed.

According to recent discussions among members of industry association DECT Forum, products using cordless advanced technology in relation to internet and quality will soon be available around the home, reports Electronics Weekly.

The organisation suspects that audio streaming and IP-based voice activities over broadband connections are likely to be rolled out by the third quarter of the year.

John Smith, head of UK operations at Siemens' home and office communication division, said that the new cordless advanced technology was much faster than older digital enhanced (formerly European) cordless telecommunications, the publication states.

"It's not competing with WiFi to connect laptops or stream high video data rates around the home. It's the next generation of home phones at affordable prices and it works straight out of the box," he said.
