Nokia X6 will offer mobile broadband 'to rival the iPhone'

The Nokia X6, a mobile broadband rival to the iPhone, is to be launched by the telecommunications brand later this month.

The X6 will be unveiled amidst a blitz of publicity - with Nokia confirming it has already signed up to promote the handset on television, radio, online and in publications.

Indeed, it has secured a prime 30-second slot on television ahead of February's Champions League football matches on ITV.

Many of the X6's games, video playing, audio ability and showing of television programmes will be reliant upon a fast and steady mobile broadband connection.

Fiona Bosman, head of brand at Nokia UK, says: "The X6 embodies youthful entertainment and this will be the entertainment experience of a lifetime for the finalists."

She continues: "Nokia will be creating lots of exclusive and exciting content throughout the campaign that will really bring each aspect of this brilliant device to life, reminding consumers that the X6 is a must have all round entertainer."

Mobile broadband fans in London may wish to head to the capital's IMAX cinema, which is showing a short film about the Nokia X6 and all it has to offer.

The X6 will come with 16GB as standard, a five-megapixel camera and a choice of four colours.

Mobile broadband users who invest in an X6 when it is released on February 24th can also take advantage of a range of games which include Spore, DJ Mix Tour and Asphalt4.

Earlier this month Nokia stated that it believed the popularity of mobile broadband will soar in the coming years, with "the majority" of the world's population already having on-the-go web access.
