T-Mobile unveils daily mobile broadband rate

Monday 22nd September 2008, by Daniel King

T-Mobile has launched a range of short-term mobile broadband packages, which it claims will help to simplify the process of buying the service.

Customers who purchase a T-Mobile Mobile Broadband USB Stick 110, which is priced at £49.99, will have access to three pay-as-you-go-style plans.

The packages begin at £2 for a day's unlimited browsing, rising to £10 for a full week and £20 for 30 days, and credits can be purchased direct from the user's laptop.

T-Mobile claims that download speeds of 3.6 mbps will be available via the service, with an upload speed of 0.3 mbps.

Richard Warmsley, the operator's head of internet and entertainment in the UK, said the new products would open up mobile broadband to people who did not want to be tied to a 12-month contract.

"We've seen massive demand for mobile broadband from a range of people, so we're creating ways for customers to only pay for days they actually need," he explained.

Mr Warmsley added: "We have removed all complexity from the mobile broadband story, giving customers the confidence to simply pick it up off the shelf and start using it."

T-Mobile is currently running a free laptop promotion for customers prepared to commit to a long-term contract.

Anyone who signs up for the £30-a-month two-year Mobile Broadband Plus package before the end of September will receive an Acer Travel Mate 5320 laptop, together with a USB modem.

In addition to unlimited access to the internet on the move, the service also allows users to access text messages via their laptop.
