BT Broadband gives you speeds of up to 20Mb – even at peak times. BT will automatically give you the fastest speed your phone line can physically support up to a maximum of 20Mb (or 20 megabits per second).
The only exceptions to this are people who are living far away from their telephone exchange and those that live in very remote rural exchanges which are not being upgraded.
It is expected that over 90% of BT customers will have a MINIMUM speed of 2Mb.
If BT Infinity is available in your area then you will be able to get a much faster and more powerful internet connection of up to 40Mb per second.

Our BT Broadband Review
BT Broadband is at the forefront of the UK's broadband market. BT Internet has become the largest provider of broadband services in the UK with their primary focus on providing families with complete user-friendly broadband and call packages.
There are currently three BT Broadband products available, Option 1, Option 2 and Option 3, all of which provide the same fast connection speed of up to 8Mbps and come equipped with a Norton Security package as standard. Download limits range from 10GB a month with Option 1 to no limits with Option 3.
BT Broadband utilises Yahoo Explorer to navigate the web either through the new improved BT Home Hub 2.0, which now comes as standard with all three packages. On Option 3, the Home Hub comes with a Hub Phone handset.
Whichever BT Broadband Option you subscribe to, all the required cables and components (DSL cable, micro-filters, USB cable, Ethernet and a VoIP converter for BT Broadband Talk) are all provided as part of the BT Internet deal.
After signing up, BT Broadband customers can also sign up for on-demand Digital TV entertainment with BT Vision, which gives customers access to the digital terrestrial Freeview channels and a range of optional TV channel mixes include the best of UK and US TV entertainment, top Hollywood entertainment, and full coverage of the Barclays Premier League including live football action courtesy of Setanta Sports. "Been with BT for over 12 months, I find customer service very good but keep having too many problems with the speed, I phone them often and engineers have said their is too much going on on their lines as they keep failing to provide the speed. Im thinking of finding somewhere else as I need better speed......SORRY BT recommend for service not for speed"

BT Infinity Broadband Review
(16th December, 2010)
"Had Infinity for about a month, after the first 10 days of speed variance, settled down to a nice 38meg/8meg up. Customer service was appalling as BT messed up my order up twice, I had to escalate the issue to complaints to get it sorted. Tip for BT, move your call centres back to Britain please."

"Broadband and telephone service excellent and BT Vision is also very good. Very disappointed with the Sky Sport Ad-on though. I bought it to watch the Premiership and Sky have moved most of the games to Sky Sport HD. Probably going to cancel the Sport."

BT Home Hub Guide
The BT Home Hub is designed to give BT customers an all-in-one stylish piece of kit that provides an efficient, effective solution to multiple telecoms and internet services. The BT Home Hub acts as the main connection point between these services, enabling BT customers to have home phone, broadband, digital TV and wireless internet powered from one location.
The BT Home Hub uses the innovative ‘N’ technology to greatly increase wireless range, and gives customers a market leading choice for reliable Wi-Fi connection. The BT Home Hub also comes with built-in firewall to keep your computer and files safe from external disruption or intrusion, and it also boasts the latest WPA, or Wi-Fi Protected Access, as standard so that you can enjoy peace of mind knowing that the right protection is in place.
The Hub allows several computers to be connected to your BT Broadband through the strong Wi-Fi capabilities, whilst mobile phones can run off the signal too. You will find that the range of the Wi-Fi is much better than most broadband providers, thanks to the ‘N’ technology. The BT Home Hub is simple to install, offers a high level of security and even includes an auto-power save function that activates when it is not in use.
The Hub Phone offers customers a great way to make low cost calls using the broadband connection, as well as High Definition sound when calls are made to another Hub Phone, BT Softphone or BT Videophone.
The BT Home Hub is free of charge to BT customers taking out any of the BT Total Broadband options.
Switching to BT
Switching to BT Broadband is simple, and you could be ready to go in just 5 days thanks to the quick and easy process. Firstly, you must obtain your MAC, or Migration Authorisation Code; this is obtained from your current provider, and they are obliged to release it to you. Once you have this alphanumeric code, you can order your BT broadband package. You will be prompted to provide the MAC code during the latter stages of your order, and you can expect to be up and running in a matter of days.
Remember that your current provider will try to change your mind about the switch because they will want to retain your custom, but it’s up to you to make the decision and you should choose the option that is best suited to you; don’t feel as if you need to be loyal to your old provider!
BT is now used by millions throughout the UK for broadband, as well as calls and TV, and now boasts an excellent, high quality service for Wi-Fi. If you are looking to switch multiple services to BT then check out the bundle deals available, just don’t forget that you need you MAC code.
It’s also important to check your current contract conditions. You may be contractually obliged to remain with your current provider for a certain amount of time, which means that switching may, and probably will, incur a charge. It is best to see out the remainder of your deal, and then make the switch when there will be no penalty or release fee. Switching to BT is simple, but make sure that you are free to switch first.
