Our O2 Broadband Review
O2 Broadband is the new super fast ADSL2+ internet service from the mobile phone network operator, offering unlimited net access at maximum connection speeds of up to 20Mbps and discounts to O2 Pay Monthly and Pay and Go users.
With O2 Broadband, customers get a free O2 wireless router with each package, free 24/7 technical support, and up to ten free email accounts. O2 Email to mobile is also included in all packages. Each package comes with McAfee security software, with the Pro package offering up to 5 licenses, making it easy for people setting up a network in the home to get protected. A single static IP address is available for an extra £5 a month.
O2 Broadband is currently only available in selected areas, with further nationwide rollout planned imminently.

"I called O2 to set up broadband and was pleasantly surprised to speak with a cheerful Scottish chap who was able to order me broadband at my new address. i didnt have a BT landline but O2 were able to put one in for me. I knew the cost was £86 from o2 (which is far cheaper than the quote i had from BT) to get a line fitted by O2. The man was able to half the cost for me (even though i was aware i would be paying the higher price!) because i took the middle package. Apparently this is a special del you can only get by calling O2 direct. Tehy sent me text messages to keep me updated and teh engineer showed up whn they said he would. So far i am delighted with the service. Ps- the number i called was 0800 230 0202 to get the half price new line. Apparently you have to take the all rounder plan or above. I also got 6 months free broadband (not the landline though) because i had my O2 mobile for over 2 years! RESULT!"

"I only really connected with O2 because my cousin could get a discount [£7.99 for 20meg, static IP] and I must say I have been more than pleased with my experience. If I couldn't get a family discount, I'd still choose to pay full price for O2. I had a tiny problem with the router at first, but this was easily rectified by the friendly & efficient tech support. Other than that, no problems whatsoever. Highly recommended. [Run on MacPro/ OS X 10.6]"

"I have been with o2 for about 14 months. It used to be fantastic - I have the 8 meg service but rec'd around 3to4 meg downloads which were OK. Since Christmas that has dropped to around .8 meg at best during evenings and weekends. It often runs at sub .5 meg. A check on O2's own forums reveals this is now very very commonplace. I am about to migrate unless matters improve radically - anyone thinking of joining would be well advised to check o2's own customer forum first to see what pretty much all other customers are saying about very poor download speeds."

"I requested 02 broadband this monday after sacking tiscali who are EVIL. As an 02 mobile user, i get a discount, which is great, and they have kept me constantly updated via text messages. Their website order status screen is very informative, and i have just recieved a text (1 day after applying) confirming my order and advising it should be active by THIS FRIDAY. As introductions go, 02 have been amazing, lets hope they live up to their promises...."
