Sky Broadband is a late entry into the Broadband ISP market, but is also one that is proving to be very attractive with customers. Aside from generous monthly download allowances and fast connections, the Sky Broadband service is available on its own or as part of a Sky bundle.
You can either choose Sky Broadband with Sky TV or without, it is completely flexible.

Sky is famous for its groundbreaking TV service, but Sky customers can also enjoy some great value deals for broadband as well as calls. Sky offers two broadband packages that both offer plenty of generous allowances and extras, making them excellent value for money. Broadband Unlimited is the most comprehensive package, providing unlimited monthly download which is great for those who stream and download movies and music on a regular basis. With no limit in place, you are free to continuously download without restriction. This is also ideal for those wishing to make the most out of Sky Anytime+, which is Sky’s on demand service that allows you to download programming from your subscription. This package also comes with a 12 month free trial of McAfee Internet Security Suite.
The alternative broadband package is Broadband Everyday Lite, which is less than half the price without any compromise on broadband download and upload speed, and customers can still take advantage of a free 3 month trial of McAfee Security Suite. Customers who will watch the occasional movie, download a bit of music and catch up on news would be satisfied with this package, as it has a 2GB allowance for monthly data usage.
Every Sky broadband customer is offered up to 20Mb, or Megabits per second, download speed and up to 1.3Mb upload speed, but the actual speed, as with all providers, can vary. There is technical support available 24/7 and the deals come with a free Sky Wireless Router. A main attraction of Sky Broadband is the opportunity for a great value bundle deal; combing broadband with a Sky Talk package can provide a discount, and if you include Sky for line rental then you will have the total cost for your phone, phone line and internet collated together in one simple bill each month.
Switching to Sky
If you have a BT line rental, you will need to switch this to Sky which will make the monthly bills simpler you can then pick your broadband package. Make the order, and Sky will arrange for an engineer to visit at a convenient time, and your Sky Broadband should be up and running within a maximum of two weeks.
If you are switching from Virgin Media or TalkTalk, you may need to set up a new phone line and phone number with Sky, but this is a very simple process that won’t take too long. Sky will work to ensure that the switchover is swift, smooth and seamless so that you can enjoy your new services as soon as possible.
Remember that when you switch, you must be sure that your current provider does not have you tied in to a contract. You may be faced with a release fee or termination charge if you want to leave a contract early, so the best thing to do is wait until your contract has run its course, and then you will be free to switch to any provider you choose. To be sure of your current contractual obligations, check with your provider.
