Sky Fibre delivers superfast fibre-optic broadband in your home. It uses the fibre network to give you much quicker, more reliable connectivity, and is ideal for homes which make heavy use of the internet.
With Sky Fibre Unlimited, customers are offered consistently fast speeds with no cap on usage, so you can download as much as you like without worrying about a monthly limit. There are some other impressive benefits included, such as the Sky Hub, and you can take it as a bundle with other services like Sky TV.

With Sky Fibre you can enjoy much faster connectivity, and the advanced technology used allows for a more consistent download speed as well. You’ll still see varying speeds advertised from different providers offering fibre, but with Sky’s service you could get up to 38-40Mbps. This is extremely fast and would let you download an album in less than 30 seconds, whilst a whole movie could take just 5 minutes.
If you take Sky Broadband Lite or Unlimited then it is provided using copper wire, and this is much slower than the fibre-optic network. However, it is still quick enough for those who do not demand too much from their internet, and with Sky you could expect no faster than 14Mbps.
It would still probably be slower than this in practice, because the amount of other users in the area, the time of day and your distance from the exchange can, and will, affect the pace of your connection.

Unlimited broadband means uncapped usage throughout the month. If there is a cap, such as 2GB, then you can download that amount in total, and that includes loading web pages and streaming video. It all contributes to your usage, so if you choose unlimited then you don’t have to worry about watching how much you browse and download from the web.
With Sky you can get the standard broadband or fibre-optic with unlimited usage, and you can bundle this with other Sky services.

Sky is known for its groundbreaking TV, but customers can also get quick, competitive broadband and home calls, or choose Sky Fibre for superfast broadband. Whether you choose a bundle deal, or just take broadband, Sky’s packages are great value with impressive incentives.
Our Sky Broadband Review
For years, Sky has been the leading subscription-based TV provider, and remains at the front with its groundbreaking sports programming, extensive movie library and great range of channels. Sky has also kept pace as a broadband provider, delivering good broadband packages with competitive speeds and high or uncapped download limits.
In order to remain competitive, Sky introduced Sky Fibre, which offers superfast fibre-optic broadband. This has been a key part of Sky’s progression as a broadband provider, as now customers can enjoy the excellent TV service and get the impressive broadband speeds that make downloading and streaming so seamless.
Sky offers a calls package as well, so customers can get the full home service, and the added incentives are worth a look too. Sky’s new customer offers will vary, but you could see offers such as gift vouchers at high street stores, package discount for a selected period or free activation. This gives you more from the deal, and you’ll find the prices from Sky are kept low and affordable.
And that’s not all, for a second year running, Sky Broadband and Talk has unbeatable overall customer service compared to BT, Virgin Media and Talk Talk. (Source: Ofcom Report, Dec 2012).
With absolutely no usage limits and there new Switch Squad making your switch easy, why not take Sky Broadband Unlimited today.

Sky Broadband review

"Sky broadband is good apart from the initial set up. You have to wait 10 days for connection and a further few days for all of your equipment if you connect your router yourself. Other than that I'm really pleased with the speed, connection and price!"

Sky Benefits
Sky offers customers speeds of up to 76Mbps, which allows for fast web browsing and fluid streaming of movies and music. Both broadband deals from Sky can achieve these speeds, depending on your location, and the maximum upload speed of 1.3Mbps will make it easy to share your data and put content on the web. Sky’s smallest broadband package, Everyday Lite, gives customers the freedom to choose a cheap deal that is perfect for casual web browsing, whilst the comprehensive Broadband Fibre Unlimited will satisfy those die-hard downloaders. Customers will benefit greatly from this choice of deals; whichever one you pick, you are sure to enjoy great value for money and quality service.
Sky customers can also enjoy round-the-clock technical support, and a free trial of McAfee Internet Security Suite, so they can sample the excellent protection solutions developed by McAfee, and the broadband packages are used in conjunction with Sky’s popular on demand service. Sky Broadband Umlimited, Connect and Fibre Unlimited customers can also get online when they are out and about through WiFi Hotspots from The Cloud at no extra cost.
If you choose to take Sky broadband & calls as part of a Sky TV package you will also benefit from the Sky Go service at no extra cost. This service allows customers to enjoy Sky Movies, Sky Sports, entertainment and kid's TV on a number of devices including iPads, iPhones, laptops, Xbox 360 and selected Android smartphones.
Sky customers can also benefit from the bundle deals, which will help to save money and provide a more complete home service. Sky is a leading, reputable provider dedicated to innovative thinking, customer satisfaction and value for money, which means that, as a Sky customer, you will know that you have chosen one of the best for TV, broadband and calls.
Sky Packages
Sky is famous for its groundbreaking TV service, but Sky customers can also enjoy some great value deals for broadband as well as calls. Sky offers two broadband packages that both offer plenty of generous allowances and extras, making them excellent value for money. Broadband Unlimited is the most comprehensive package, providing unlimited monthly download which is great for those who stream and download movies and music on a regular basis. With no limit in place, you are free to continuously download without restriction. This is also ideal for those wishing to make the most out of Sky Anytime+, which is Sky’s on demand service that allows you to download programming from your subscription. This package also comes with a 12 month free trial of McAfee Internet Security Suite.
The alternative broadband package is Broadband Everyday Lite, which is less than half the price without any compromise on broadband download and upload speed, and customers can still take advantage of a free 3 month trial of McAfee Security Suite. Customers who will watch the occasional movie, download a bit of music and catch up on news would be satisfied with this package, as it has a 2GB allowance for monthly data usage.
Every Sky broadband customer is offered up to 14Mb, or Megabits per second, download speed and up to 1.3Mb upload speed, but the actual speed, as with all providers, can vary. There is technical support available 24/7 and the deals come with a free Sky Wireless Router. A main attraction of Sky Broadband is the opportunity for a great value bundle deal; combing broadband with a Sky Talk package can provide a discount, and if you include Sky for line rental then you will have the total cost for your phone, phone line and internet collated together in one simple bill each month.
Switching to Sky
If you have a BT line rental, you will need to switch this to Sky which will make the monthly bills simpler you can then pick your broadband package. Make the order, and Sky will arrange for an engineer to visit at a convenient time, and your Sky Broadband should be up and running within a maximum of two weeks.
If you are switching from Virgin Media or TalkTalk, you may need to set up a new phone line and phone number with Sky, but this is a very simple process that won’t take too long. Sky will work to ensure that the switchover is swift, smooth and seamless so that you can enjoy your new services as soon as possible.
Remember that when you switch, you must be sure that your current provider does not have you tied in to a contract. You may be faced with a release fee or termination charge if you want to leave a contract early, so the best thing to do is wait until your contract has run its course, and then you will be free to switch to any provider you choose. To be sure of your current contractual obligations, check with your provider.
