How fast is TalkTalk broadband?
With TalkTalk Fibre, you can choose between up to 38Mbps and up to 76Mbps. Both these packages will consistently deliver superfast broadband download speeds, thanks to the advanced fibre-optic network.
TalkTalk’s standard broadband service offers up to 14Mpbs, although the actual speed would usually be lower than this. The copper-based network is significantly slower than fibre-optic, and your speed will be affected by various factors such as distance from exchange and local web traffic.

TalkTalk line rental is separate from the package price. It works out as £9.50 a month if you choose TalkTalk’s Line Rental Saver, where you pay a reduced amount of £114 upfront to cover the year. Alternatively, you can pay the £14.95 a month line rental fee.

The download speeds are competitive, and if you take fibre then you can get superfast broadband, and once again TalkTalk manages to keep the price impressively low. If you are already on a smaller package it’s easy to upgrade, whilst new customers have the choice and can be confident they are getting good value.
Customers can also include TV, and get the TalkTalk version of YouView added to their calls and broadband. This gives you the complete home service, with entertainment, internet and inclusive home calls all bundled together in one low-cost deal.

"I am a new customer, I have poor speed because of the distance to my nearest exchange, nothing TalkTalk can do about that. The change over was simple and well explained. I find the web site easy to understand and use and I haven't had one break in service since changeing to TT. With my old ISP I had to re-connect to broadband 5/6 times a day!"

"Don't use talktalk if you are getting broadband in Student accomodation. The minumum contract length is 12 months and early cancellation (3 months) costs something like £50. So it is not cost effective over the 9 month student year."

"Have the anytime and line rental package. Its cheap and works most of the time. Talktalk are geting better but still have away to go with the call centre in India as they are very polite but also quite useless. The low line speed is down to Telecom rotten old copper wires and their lack of investment, so we cannot blame Talktalk for this"
