Broadband and Phone

As the majority of broadband products are delivered down a phone line of some sorts - be it copper ADSL, fibre optic cable, or a cellular mobile phone connection - a great number of broadband products come bundled with phone call plans. The standard fixed-line (non-mobile) broadband and phone deal usually sees you getting inclusive evening and weekend calls included alongside the cost of the line rental plus the cost of the broadband subscription. Mobile phone providers who operate home broadband services may offer their broadband products at a discounted rate for their mobile customers.
Broadband and Phone
Broadband and Phone deals are the most common kind of bundle deal you're likely to find when looking for broadband services. Seeing as broadband internet access and voice calls can both be provided over the same medium, whether it's copper wire, fibre optic cable, or over a mobile phone connection, it makes sense for companies to offer both services to their customers if they can.
Practically all of the popular 'free' broadband deals will offer phone calls bundled with broadband. The cost of the broadband service is covered by how much you pay either in line rental, if your broadband is bundled with fixed-line calls, or your mobile phone contract, if you have a mobile broadband subscription, or your mobile network operator also runs a home broadband service.
Broadband and Phone deals also form part of 'triple play' and 'quad play' packages, where the broadband provider is able to offer broadband and fixed-line phone calls as well as mobile phone calls and/or digital TV. In these instances, it is often a requirement that you sign up for fixed-line phone rental, which will usually come bundled with evening and weekend calls to UK landlines. Line rental and fixed-line calls often forms the backbone of triple and quad play deals.
The evening and weekend calls which come bundled with Broadband and Phone deals typically allow you to make 'free' calls, provided that the call lasts for less than an hour. However, many broadband providers clearly state on the Terms and Conditions sections of their websites that you can simply hang up at the 59th minute and redial to avoid being charged for the call. As well as evening and weekend call plans, you can also sign up for anytime phone plans, which allow you to make unlimited calls to landlines at any time of the day, seven days a week.
Broadband and Phone plans normally only allow you to make these free calls to UK landline numbers which begin with an 01, 02 or 03 prefix, although some broadband providers are starting to include calls to 0870 and 0845 in their packages. Calls to international landlines and mobile numbers are sometimes included in packages, either free or at an extra additional cost.
