Budget Broadband services provide bare bones, no frills access to the internet. You won't get the fastest speeds available with these kinds of services, and you won't really be able to download a whole lot of things like MP3's or videos. However, if you just want broadband internet access to check your emails, shop online, and visit social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace, and watch the occasional video on YouTube, then a cheap broadband will probably give you everything you need, allowing you to save more money each month than you would with a more heavy duty broadband service.

Cheap Broadband

Broadband services are fairly ubiquitous these days - you can get broadband internet access either free or for peanuts when taken in conjunction with a mobile phone contract, digital TV subscription, an in-store a laptop offer, or even with phone line rental and a calls package.

This may require to top up your mobile phone by a certain amount every month to qualify for the discount on the broadband, subscribe to a specific TV package, or lock in to a contract for a certain amount of time, but if you were planning to stay on your network or get digital TV anyway, then getting cheap or even free broadband into the deal and see you making some serious savings every month.

For customers who want internet access in the home to take advantage of exclusive online deals, check for holiday dates, do shopping orders online, use iTunes and to keep in touch with friends on Facebook, Myspace or Bebo, then a cheap broadband solution is ideal. Often called 'entry-level' broadband on comparison sites (including this one) these broadband products are best suited to smaller households with one or two internet users, who don't regularly engage in heavy downloading.

Cheap broadband products often come with download speeds rarely exceeding 8Mbps, with 2Mbps being the most common download speed available - this speed is generally enough to suffice for watching programmes on the BBC iPlayer. Entry level broadband will also typically come with a fairly low monthly usage limit - anything from 5GB upwards, and usually averaging at 10GB, although some cheap broadband products will come with a more generous amount.

Cheap broadband contracts vary in length, and sometimes come with a caveat which sees you obliged to subscribe for a set period of time - 12 months or longer - which sees you qualifying for broadband at a discounted price, or avoiding having to pay for free wireless router or a connection fee.
