BT increases email charge for ex-customers

BT has raised the price of its email accounts for customers who leave the provider.

The Premium Mail service that BT provides is free for all its current customers and previously cost those who left the provider £1.60 per month to keep.

Recently, however, this fee has risen to £5 per month, making the yearly cost of BT Mail for ex-customers £60.

This represents a triple increase in the cost of its Premium Mail service, which BT claims you can stop if you switch back to the provider.

A spokesperson for the company said that BT would be reaching out to Premium Mail customers in order to tempt them back to the provider.

“BT is writing to a small number of its customers with Premium Mail to offer them some great deals to save them from having to pay extra for this service.”

BT Premium Mail allows users to run up to 11 email accounts as well as enjoy unlimited storage for old mail.

BT is currently in the process of launching its new cold callers service, which will prevent nuisance calls by diverting them to email spam folders.

This method, BT claims, will divert around 25 million cold calls for its customers every week.

BT has around 10 million landline customers who will benefit from the service, with owners able to add certain numbers to blacklists.
