Virgin Media unveils plans for broadband in new homes

Virgin Media has announced that it will be aiding residents of new homes with broadband connections.

Virgin Media has announced that it will be aiding residents of new homes with broadband connections.

Both the provider and the Home Builders Federation have claimed that they are dedicated to providing new homes with broadband by making installation easier.

Virgin Media has begun a new service which will allow companies building houses to apply for broadband connection.

Following this, Virgin Media will assess new houses free of charge as well as offering discounts on their prices for new homeowners.

Broadband in new housing in the UK has been a consistent problem recently, with thousands of new homes being built without vital broadband facilities.

Earlier this year, the government announced that it would be tackling the issue via the BT Openreach network.

The new announcement from Virgin Media is part of its Project Lightning initiative, which is worth £3 billion and aims to expand the network to bring speeds of up to 200Mbps to the majority of its customers.

COO of the company, Paul Buttery, claimed that Virgin Media was working towards making houses truly modern with its network.

“By partnering with Virgin Media, developers can build 21st century homes, equipped with the most modern broadband infrastructure delivering the fastest speeds.”

“With our network growing at a faster pace than ever, the more demand we get from developers, the more we can do to support them.”
