Vodafone has announced that its broadband service attracted 20,000 new customers in the first 3 months of this year.

The mobile and broadband provider’s latest trading statement claims that fixed broadband members rose by 20,000 between January and March.

This has taken the overall user base of its fixed broadband service to 109,000.

Vodafone claims that this level of growth makes its the fastest growing broadband provider in Europe.

As well as an increase in broadband customers, the provider claimed that it has enjoyed a 2.3% rise in total revenue, with a figure of £41 billion being present by the end of Q1 this year.

Group Chief Executive of the company, Vittorio Colao, said that Vodafone was confident it could continue to grow in the broadband sector.

“This has been a year of strong execution for the group.”

"I am confident we will sustain our positive momentum in the coming year, allowing us to maintain attractive returns for our shareholders.”

Vodafone’s other services are also said to be flourishing, with 7 million customers now signed up to its 4G network, which currently covered 91% of the UK.

Vodafone is also preparing a new TV service, which it hopes will rival similar products from Virgin Media and Sky.
