About Virgin Media
Virgin Media is one of the UK’s pioneers of fibre-optic broadband, offering its personal network of cables. This means that Virgin customers can enjoy some of the country’s fastest possible broadband, with some areas receiving up to 200Mb.
Equipment
Virgin’s SuperHub is known as one of the fastest wireless routers available and comes as standard with any broadband package. Virgin TV is managed through a TiVo box, which you can install yourself when you have a Virgin connection.
Customer Service
Virgin’s customer service is award winning and you can call the hotline for free on any Virgin Media landline. Whilst not operational 24/7, it is available every day. Customers can also get free online support via the chat feature on Virgin’s website.
Switching to Virgin Media
Under new rules, switching provider is simple. All you need to do is check that you can get the service at your postcode, then place your order, and then Virgin Media should organise the switch for you.
Line Rental
For services with Virgin phone and TV, a standard £19 line rental charge is applied. Subscriptions that only include broadband, however, are exempt from this charge.
Package Features
Virgin customers can have their own exclusive Virgin email address, with 15 available for additional family members. You can also add further channels to your TV subscription, you can upgrade to the XL+ package and enjoy every digital channel available.
Virgin Media Mobile SIM
Virgin Media customers can choose to take a Virgin Mobile SIM starting at only £5 extra a month when they sign up to a broadband package. This includes unlimited texts as well as free calls to other Virgin Mobile customers.
Availability
Because Virgin Media runs on its own network, its service might not be immediately available to those who live in rural areas. While all Virgin packages use this network, the vast majority of UK customers will be able to receive fibre-optic. You can check availability in your area before you sign up.

Do I have to pay line rental?
Unlike BT, you only have to pay line rental if you take phone as part of your package. Those on a broadband only offer don't have to pay unnecessary line rental fees.
